About Stainless steel 304
Grade 304 is the everyday stainless steel: good corrosion resistance indoors and in most outdoor settings away from the sea or road salt. 304L has lower carbon for better corrosion resistance after welding.
Grades: 1.4301 (304), 1.4307 (304L). Thickness from 1 mm to 40 mm.
Typical uses: Food and catering equipment, kitchen and bar fittings, balustrade parts, brackets and covers.
Edge and finish
Plasma leaves a darker heat tint and a slightly rougher edge on stainless than on mild steel. For visible edges, allow for grinding and pickling or passivating after cutting.

Questions
Is plasma good for thin stainless?
Yes for brackets, plates and blanks. For very fine detail or cosmetic edges on thin sheet, laser cutting gives a cleaner edge.
Will the cut edge rust?
The heat tint can show light surface rust outdoors. Pickling or passivating the edge restores the protective layer.
