About Aluminium
Aluminium is about a third of the weight of steel and does not rust. 5083 is the marine grade with the best corrosion resistance, 6082 is the structural grade for strength, and 1050 is soft, easily formed sheet.
Grades: 5083, 6082, 1050. Thickness from 1 mm to 40 mm.
Typical uses: Lightweight brackets, marine plates, vehicle and trailer parts, covers, signs and panels.
Edge and finish
Plasma-cut aluminium has a rougher edge than steel, with some dross on the underside on thicker plate. Edges are usually deburred before use.
